I first started taking supplements almost a decade ago after being told I was anemic at sixteen, and while I know they aren’t for everyone (note: always check a new supplement with your doctor before taking it) I was pleasantly surprised at how much better I felt with a regular pill routine. Sometimes it’s nice to have a helping hand and know that the pressure isn’t just on your diet.
So while I may have been able to narrow down my favorite iron and skin supplements fairly easily, finding the perfect match for my gut was more of a challenge. In my own opinion, slowness leads to bloating that could be compared to a pregnant woman, and often contributes to my breakouts, I believe.
As a beauty writer who’s regularly sent the latest deals from brands, I’ve long been game to try everything that lands on my desk, including plenty of gut supplements. And after trying and testing the whole thing, I’ve come to realize that it’s a mixed bag: some were good, some average, and others left me so uncomfortable that only laying horizontally and avoiding mirrors could combat the effects.
With this in mind, when when from Artahs Metabolic Fik was sent to me, admittedly I didn’t have high expectations, but in my seemingly eternal quest for a bloat-free stomach, I decided to give them a shot anyway. Spoiler: they turned out to be the only gut health supplement I’ve ever taken that actually worked, and fast. In fact, after just one night, I woke up with my first bloat-free stomach in years. Or maybe ever. Not only did I feel more comfortable in myself, but my energy levels definitely seemed to increase that next day and as someone who struggles with insomnia, that’s huge feat.
What is Artahs Metabolic Fix supplement?
Artah’s Metabolic Fix supplements claim to regulate blood sugar and improve energy production at the cellular level, thanks to its wellness cocktail of chromium (a mineral known to help boost your metabolism), green tea extract (to boost energy levels) and alpha lipoic acid (an antioxidant that the body produces to convert glucose into energy).
Alpha lipoic acid, chromium and inositol help with insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism, he explains Nishtha Patel, nutritionist and functional medicine IFMCP. Maintaining insulin sensitivity is essential for efficient uptake of glucose from the bloodstream. Research suggests that substances like ALA, inositol and chromium can increase insulin sensitivity and when your body is insulin sensitive, it needs less insulin to regulate blood sugar levels. This is crucial because low insulin sensitivity can increase the risk of developing prediabetes or diabetes, she adds.
This trio was a treat for me, but Patel warns that there are a few things to be aware of: Green tea can affect people with liver or kidney problems, hypertension, stomach ulcers, anxiety and psychiatric disorders, so they should consult your doctor first before taking green tea supplements. It can sometimes affect those with IBS as well.
Meanwhile, Patel shares another word of caution, saying that alpha lipoic acid can affect anyone taking chemotherapy drugs or diabetes or thyroid medications. You may find that it can lower their blood sugar further and you should always talk to their healthcare provider first as this can be harmful.

Does Artah have a supplement to help with sugar cravings?
As Patel explains above, the ingredients found in supplements are known to help regulate blood sugar and energy levels, meaning you’re less likely to crash mid-afternoon and find yourself reaching for a quick energy fix in the form of a Krispy Kreme.
From my personal experience, I found that aafter just two weeks of taking Metabolic Fix supplements, I felt so much better and awesome that I started preaching to everyone within a ten mile radius that they needed to try these supplements too. I didn’t even notice their effect on my sugar snacking ways until my roommate pointed out that the label claimed to help with sweet cravings and asked me if I had noticed that or not. Although these Artah pills seemed to work like an overnight miracle, by the second month of taking them I realized that the benefits weren’t quite as *spectacular* when my diet went awry (read: I had one too many late visits to McDonalds- in).
But when I kept my diet relatively healthy (although probably still pretty disastrous if you ask a gut expert), the two worked in synergy to keep me feeling bloated and energized. Of course, everyone’s body will react differently to supplements, but it’s safe to say that in the future I’ll be stocking my snack cabinet with these instead of my usual Oreos.
